Sabadell Seguros. Committed to sustainability for a better society

Sustainability is part of our culture and is embedded in the DNA of all our employees. We adhere to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI) and conduct an ESG risk analysis of investee companies before taking investment decisions, which are based on a firm commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of our portfolios by 2025.

We limit our environmental impact

  • In 2021, we opened our new offices in Torre BCN. We’ve set targets aligned with the UN Net-Zero principles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
  • Our head office is BREEAM-certified, which is a guarantee of compliance with the highest environmental sustainability standards. In addition, all electrical energy used in our offices is 100% renewable.

Our present and future commitment to creating products that promote sustainability.

For example, for every Life Care Woman life insurance policy issued we donate €3 to cancer research. We’ve already contributed €154,000 to support scientific research, cancer centres and associations.

And through the Sabadell Ethical and Solidarity Plan, which was Spain’s first ethical and solidarity pension plan, we’ve supported the most important solidarity projects carried out by Oxfam-Intermon for 19 years through a donation of more than €700,000. And last year, we provided customers affected by the volcano on La Palma with psychological counselling and a €6,000 benefit.

We’re also trying to reduce travel, and therefore the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, through the use of video-appraisals and 24-hour video-visits. In addition, we cover solar panel breakage and electric vehicle charging points for customers concerned about climate change. Finally, we offer green covers for electric vehicles as a way of reducing CO2 emissions during highway journeys.

We’ve invested €1 million in Q-impact

Noteworthy is the €1,000,000 impact investment in Q-Impact, the largest social impact fund (FESE) in Spain, which has 2 aims: to promote social inclusion by investing in young talent (70% of companies) and to focus on the environmental sector (30%).
