Commitment to the environment

At Sabadell Seguros y Pensiones we’re aware of the impact that our business has on the environment. That is why we assume the responsibility of both limiting our emissions and working to raise awareness of the adverse effects of climate change on our planet.

We fight climate change

The current climate emergency and the fragility of biodiversity are what drive us to act. There is an urgent need to conserve and restore our habitats, ecosystems and species to combat climate change. How?

  • By participating in the purchase of land to ensure its long-term conservation.
  • By managing a project to reduce deforestation, protect ecosystems and restore them.
  • By explaining and publicising the importance of conserving and improving the environment.

Socially responsible investment

  • Since 2012 BanSabadell Pensions has followed the UN Principles for Socially Responsible Investment (UNPRI). We recognise that the asset management industry is central to the financing of a more sustainable economy.  If you want to know more information about UN PRI click here.
  • Failure to consider adverse impacts of investment advice on sustainability factors. Given the size, nature and scale of our entity’s activities, the entity hereby declares that it does not take into account the adverse impact of investment decisions on sustainability factors.

 Sustainability in our offices 

  • We calculated our organization's carbon footprints for the first time in 2022, and we have registered them with the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge. In this way, through an action plan, with different initiatives we can reduce consumption and the CO2 emissions we generate. Discover our carbon footprint here.
  • Our head office is BREEAM certified, which guarantees compliance with the highest environmental sustainability standards. In addition, all electrical energy used in our offices is 100% renewable.

Commitment to society

Being a diverse company enables us to better understand and get to know the society we aim to serve, while at the same time enriching us as a team. We aim to promote leadership and achieve a flexible working environment in which everyone has a place irrespective of gender, age, origin or physical and mental abilities.

Diversity and inclusion

  • EDGE lead The company has been awarded the world’s leading international certification for gender equality. We ensure the non-existence of a pay gap in our organisation, while providing an inclusive environment with equal opportunities.     
  • Women’s leadership More than 60% of our workforce are women. We champion women’s leadership in all our teams, and particularly in strategic and managerial positions. 

Fight against Cancer

For each Life Care Woman insurance policy taken out, we make a €3 donation for women’s cancer research. Thanks to our customer’s support and trust, in 2021 we managed to raise €42,000 for the following associations:
30.000 €
Donated to the AECC for the development of comprehensive action and research projects to combat breast cancer.
12.000 €
Donated to Fundación Sant Joan de Déu for the construction of the largest paediatric oncology centre in Europe.

Transparency and governance

We involve all stakeholders, and particularly our entire staff and management team, in the establishment of our corporate governance system. We ensure that we have a transparent organisational structure that guarantees the efficient, sound, prudent and sustainable management of our business.

Internal commitment

  • We have integrated environmental, social and governance considerations into our business strategy and our day-to-day business as part of our corporate culture. The level of commitment by all of our teams is quite high.

Corporate governance

  • Transparency is one of our main imperatives and a commitment we undertake to fulfil with our customers. We therefore subscribe to industry initiatives such as the Best Practice Guidelines for the insurance sector published by the Spanish Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Institutions (UNESPA), as part of our pledge to uphold ethical standards in all of our distribution processes.
